Lawn Calendar

All the important dates to bear in mind for the very optimum care of your lawn.

Spring (March to May)
  • Apply sulphate of iron to lawns badly affected by moss. Rake up after two weeks.
  • Apply Connacht Gold Feed, Weed and Mosskiller.
  • First cut may be done after the threat of frost is gone. Lawnmower should be set to the highest cut and gradually reduced over the next two cuts.
Summer (June to August)
  • Cut the lawn once a week. cutting regularly at a higher setting rather than less at a lower cut prevents the grass from weakening reducing the amount of weeds that can establish.
  • Second application of 3 in 1 feed weed and mosskiller in late june.
  • Use lawn weedkillers such as verdone for persitant weeds. some particularly difficult weeds will need repeated treatment.
Autumn (September to November)
  • Apply autumn feed.
  • Aerate lawn and brush in lawn dressing.
  • Gradually raise the level of the cut.
Winter (December to February)
  • Take it easy!
  • Rake up any dead leaves or debris. Other than that avoid walking on the lawn.
